I shall post here continuing good news for Cornwall, developments which will positively help the people of Cornwall and the local economy and everyday lives. Everyone who wants the people of Cornwall to succeed in the modern world will welcome them. This post covers 2013: for previous Vorsprungs see the foot of this post.

* Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly will receive about £507 million (actually 592.9 million euros) between 2014-2020 from the European regional development fund (ERDF) and European social fund (ESF). The government has allocated about £5.3 billion (actually 6.2 billion euros) across England in “the fairest split…as far as EU rules allow” (Hansard 27 June 2013 column 37WS). (June 2013)

* Securing energy from the sea is being helped by funding from a £2 million EU convergence pot. Companies looking to use the two present projects, the wave hub off Hayle and test site off Falmouth, will benefit. More details here. (March 2013)
