In the House of Lords yesterday Paul Myners (baron Myners of Truro in the county of Cornwall) asked whether the government had been consulted about a daily tourist tax by “Cornwall County Council”. The government answer was that it, or at any rate the department for culture, had received no representations on this from “Cornwall County Council” (Lords Hansard 6 July 2011 column WA86).
Cornwall county council was abolished, along with the six district councils, on 1 April 2009 and they were replaced by a unitary council or authority called Cornwall Council.
